Here, I'll be combining previously published information and images from official websites to create a single catalog of mobile suits from the Gundam series. Also included in the list are support mecha for mobile suits and a selection of aircraft, space fighters, and ground vehicles that serve as their opponents.
SHOW INTRODUCTORY NOTES ▾
Once upon a time, the MS Encyclopedia (MS大全集) was the authoritative catalog of robots from the Gundam series. First published by Bandai in February 1988, it was updated several times over the following decades to cover new works. The most recent version, bearing the English title Mobile Suit Illustrated 2015, was published by Kadokawa in June 2015.
Partial updates covering the later part of the Universal Century timeline, titled Mobile Suit Illustrated U.C.0092-0169 and Mobile Suit Illustrated U.C.0081-0090, were released in March 2020 and March 2022. However, even this more focused effort now seems to have stalled out, and there's currently no comprehensive published guide to the ever-expanding mobile suit menagerie.
Meanwhile, the updated gundam-official.com website launched in 2026 has provided us with high-quality images of most of the mobile suits featured in the animated Gundam series—although the accompanying technical information and English spellings are limited and inconsistent.
I've also used Bandai's plastic model kits, popularly known as Gunpla (ガンプラ), as reference for Japanese and English name spellings. Where there's a consistent spelling used in the Gunpla packaging that conflicts with other published sources, I've treated the Gunpla spellings as definitive.
The catalog is currently divided into two sections, Universal Century Series and Alternative Series. See below for a complete index.
Gundam works that take place in the Universal Century setting of the original series. The catalog currently covers every animated work from the original Mobile Suit Gundam to Gundam ZZ, in chronological order by U.C. date.

Gundam works that take place in worlds other than the Universal Century setting of the original series. The catalog currently covers G Gundam, Gundam W and its sequel Endless Waltz, Gundam X, and the Gundam Seed series.
